About Julie Lyonn Lieberman
After weeks of tears and distress, Ms. Lieberman realized that she needed to do something positive while driving past a sign created by a fellow Newtown, CT resident, “There is no foot so small that it can’t leave an imprint on this world.”
Music and community in-service work have always been linked in one way or another for violinist, author, and composer Julie Lyonn Lieberman. She has donated a large percentage of time across her professional life to projects for the environment, as well as to projects for the American String Teachers Association.
No newcomer to large projects, she produced an environmental music educational project, The Green Anthem, which reached six million young people through the National Association for Music Education in 2010. She has also written and produced two National Public radio series, over fifty magazine articles, and well over a dozen string orchestra scores published by Alfred and Kendor in American and world styles.
Lieberman is the Artistic Director for the summer program Strings Without Boundaries and is a D’Addario Elite Clinician and an NS Design Performance Artist. She is a specialist in American and world string styles, creative musicianship, and ergonomic approaches to music making. The author of a number of internationally acclaimed books and DVDs, her 14 titles include You Are Your Instrument, Planet Musician, The Contemporary Violinist, Rockin’ Out with Blues Fiddle, Rhythmizing the Bow, and Violin and Viola Ergonomics.
